Slicing or Shredding Things in Cinema 4D

Slicing or Shredding things in Cinema 4D – Shredding paper or slicing pasta in C4D, these project files offer a few different ways to set up the effect in Cinema 4D.

This one was a combination of 2 member requests – The pasta version was requested by Rob who wanted to know how to create something similar to this animation by Federico Piccirillo, and the paper shredding version was requested by Jakub who was trying to create a title sequence with shredded newspaper.

Here’s a few tips for the 2 setups:

Project files are fully animated and include models, textures, materials, lighting, and Redshift Renderer settings using an ACES workflow for better color. See our ACES guide here.

  1. Curious when I click on the “Main setup”, it seems the paper’s simulation is not the same as the baked one, that “main setup” seems not having any simulation..

    1. Hi yuqun, the main setup is there if you’d like to redo the sim yourself – the sim will look slightly different depending on your version of c4d and your computer so it may not match exactly what I got

  2. I noticed four linear fields
    (In order of preview)
    1) Linear Field under Random
    2) Linear Field *below Matrix (I believe this is from where the Voronoi fracture happens)
    3) Linear Field *below Turbulence
    4) Linear Filed under Friction

    My doubt,
    1) What does 1,3 and 4 do?
    2) (Removing the outside box, naked view) How can I increase the drop height? Meaning there is no collider floor to collect the shredded paper. It rests on one exact point, regardless if I move the whole null up or drag the last field down. Also not cached.
    3) I noticed the Matrix is keeping the sliced pattern intact but it creates an odd look. The splitting happens after a gap and I want to replace the matrix area with a cutter model (to make it look slicing).

I am sorry if I sound confusing, but puzzled.
